Continuing the work of the Center of Lutheran Theology and Public Life, the League intends to establish local chapters throughout North America and Europe.  Its name is derived from Luther's description of human beings as "larvae Dei," (or God's masks) Martin Luther's term for God's creatures. According to Luther, human beings in particular are "larvae" (masks) behind which God hides when carrying out his concealed purposes in the secular realm. LFM offers presentations, conferences and published resources promoting selfless service to the neighbor in the secular realm as the highest service to God.
